In just a few days, Asia Week New York 2016 will open. This will be the 8th edition of the Asia Week New York and will take place from March 10-19 at 47th East 66th Street.
There are 46 galleries involved in Asia Week and five auction houses that are signed up. These include Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams, Doyle New York and iGavel. Participants include Phoenix Ancient Art with Hicham Aboutaam and brother Ali Aboutaam. They will be displaying a selection of ancient Chinese Bronzes and Ceramics. Other participating galleries include Buddhist Art from Berlin, Galerie Christophe Hioco from Paris, Nayef Homsi Ancient Art of Asia from New York, Prahlad Bubbar from London and so many more.
The week is absolutely packed with events. Just on the opening day, March 10th, for instance, they will have exhibitions and auction house viewings from 11-6pm. They have a special sale event from the AsiaStore showing newly acquired scholar’s rocks from the collection of Kemin Hu. They will be hosting an E Tour of Newark Museum and a Meet the Author event with Padma Lakshmi, author of Love, Loss and What We Ate.
Last year’s Asia Week New York had sales that reached an unprecedented total of $360 million. Certainly, everyone involved is hoping that this year’s event will be just as successful and exciting, if not more so.
