Pop-Up Breakfast Cereal Shop

cereal-1444495_960_720Wouldn’t it be fun not to think about your breakfast needs? And to just pop into a pop-up shop for your breakfast needs? The KITH x Cap’N Crunch SoHo pop-up is located at 543 Broadway. The menu may not be the healthiest ever – but it certainly might be the most fun. The menu will include nothing but ice cream and cereal. Cereal choices will include Cocoa Donut Crunch (Cap’N Kith, sprinkled donut, chocolate cake crunch, whole milk) and Jack-O’-Lantern (Halloween Crunch, Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch, Reese’s Pieces, whole milk) and milkshakes.

Enjoy the pop-up shop before it disappears! It will be there from October 8th until the 31st.

Lands’ End Pop-Up Shop

Who doesn’t love Lands’ End? Now, if you live in SoHo, or if you’re near the neighborhood, you’ll have the opportunity to shop there at 580 Broadway. The two-story store actually has a “cashmere bar” and a “men’s haberdashery shop” with a billiards table in it. You can get your items personalized on-site.

They also have Lands’ End Canvas and Lands’ End Sport. The pop-up shop drew quite a crowd when it opened with Arianna Huffington and the editors-in-chief of Glamour and Marie Claire in attendance.

As Land’s End CEO Federica Marchionni told WWD.com, “My goal is to keep our loyal customers and of course I need to recruit a new generation of shoppers.”

Don’t worry if you don’t have time to get there just yet. The shop will be available until February 15th.

Welsh Food Comes to SoHo

While we aren’t all hankering away for Welsh food, it’s certainly good to know a new Welsh restaurant has come on the scene. Illtyd Barrett has opened an awesome restaurant for truly authentic and delicious food. The Sunken Hundred is located at Cobble Hill at 276 Smith Street. The bar and restaurant is named for the sunken kingdom of Cantre’r Gwaelod. The restaurant is decorated with paintings by Fran Evans who went to high school with the Barretts. Illtyd has contributed some of the artwork as well.

The great finds here include lamb, leeks and seafood. There is also seaweed, particularly nori-like laver, which they boil and then make into a paste. Chef Coughlan will be serving all sorts of Welsh classics including lamb pastry with tomato chutney and ffagodau. They are also offering local beers, Spanish ciders and wines from the Loire Valley and northern Spain.

High Court Opening Early 2017 for Your Wellness Needs

stones-1372677_960_720So this is a nice addition to the area. High Court is going to be opening in early 2017 and will be a wellness center where you can get a manicure, enjoy a wellness talk or go to a yoga class. The space is going to be designed by Gradient Architecture and Bower and, as they describe in a press release, will enable “individuals to realign, expand their thinking, and connect with likeminded others.”

For those who just couldn’t wait for next year – there was a pop-up house from July 13-16 in Tribeca where people were able to give this idea a try. There was meditation, yoga, workshops, art installations and more. 200 memberships were available for the pop-up.

A Kale Eating Contest

kale-233127_960_720This isn’t happening in SoHo, but it’s happening in New York and it’s too good to pass up.

While Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest is hard to rival – the Taste of Buffalo contest is attempting to come as a close second. But don’t expect to down a bunch of hot dogs here. This is a kale contest, through and through. The Kale Yeah! is being advertised as “the world’s healthiest eating championship” and the contest will take place on July 9th. Competitors need to get their green palette ready and will have eight minutes to eat as much kale as they can on the steps of Buffalo City Hall. The winner will actually take home $2000!

Here is what one of the advertisements for the event said (we kid you not): “For the first time in human history, the world’s greatest eaters will test themselves against the ALMIGHTY KALE—the leafy green vegetable that has captured the hearts and minds of both the culinary set and those for whom their body is a temple. This battle of man vs woman vs kale promises to be the healthiest eating contest in the history of the world. All eyes will be on Buffalo, NY, this coming July 9th to see how Major League Eaters tackle this new and unique food type for the first time in sanctioned competition.”

Don’t Miss the Ace & Jig Pop-Up Shop

We love our pop-up shops, and the latest one does not disappoint. Ace & Jig is a great label, run by two friends with Brooklyn roots. It includes crisscross patterns and bold prints and can be found in places like Barneys – but also at Bird. Now, and this is the first time they are doing so, you can enjoy their pop-up shop.

They are enjoying a four day stay (and only four days!) at 44 Mercer Street starting with a party that took place on Thursday, June 16th. It was open Friday as well, and you can still enjoy it today or Sunday. Designers Jenna Willson and Cary Vaughan invite you to come and enjoy.

Kickboxer Revival Ready for Action

If you loved Jean-Claude Van Damm in his original roles, then you’ll love this remake. Stuntman and martial artist Alain Moussi has starred in the remake of Van Damm’s 1989 cult classic, Kickboxer.

The original film in 1989 was directed by Mark DiSalle and starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Alexio.

Stuntman and martial artist Alain Moussi have starred in the remake of the 1989 cult classic, which starred Jean-Claude Van Damm and kickboxing champion Dennis Alexio. The new version, with executive producers O’Shea, Jeff Bowler and Nat McCormick, was directed by Stephen Fung. Alain Moussi, as the new lead, brought his star qualities to the screen. As Producer Ted Field of Radar Pictures explained, “Alain is a star and will be an amazing leading man. Like Vin [Diesel] in Riddick, Alain will make this movie very special, and this Kickboxer will be the start of an amazing franchise.”

Kickboxer tells the story of David and Kurt Sloan, who come from a fighting dynasty. David is lured to Hong Kong to fight but dies there and his brother arrives to seek revenge. As O’Shea said, “We have a visionary director, a strong Hollywood producer, great cast and an action-packed script based on a well-known property. What more can you ask for?”

Your One-Stop Cheese Shop

If you love French cheeses or you just love the idea of something new, then set your sights on the French Cheese Board. They are coming to 41 Spring Street and bringing their cheeses along with them. Unlike the regular cheese shop, however, this space is going to feature cheese eating accessories, a cheese art gallery, a kitchen and even an educational space. And of course you’ll be privy to cheese samples and cheeses that you can purchase and devour.

They plan to have more than 1200 types of French cheeses. Only a few more days – they open on May 19.
